		<description>(2010)

It is said that the real problem with digital is there is no reason to believe photographs.

As the digitized image has broken the relationship between picture and the reality, the aim of the project is to confront the notion of physical nature, the general realm that surrounds us and creates our world, with the one, which exists only digitally. Focusing on computer’s error, I have created artistic commentary on the notion of nature being too complex for the computer measurement system. Searching for the landscape, computer generates completely broken, distorted and abstract image. We are witnessing the digital collapse in the representation of the landscape and complete pixilation in space.
The intention was to react in opposition to this phenomenon and extremely increasing notion of analogue world becoming entirely digitalized. That is creating analogue photograph throughout digital/computer generated one. Based on raw material, its pixels structure and colour chart, I have recreated digital image in the colour darkroom, producing thousands of squares of pure colours and combined them together in the same way as they appear in the blown up digital picture.
It is claimed that in the digital environment emerges also a new category of photograph – a mosaic. It allows for multiple pathways leading to new avenues of exploration – a hypertext. The hypertextual photograph can lead to the other side, whether to explore social situation or to create an image poem. The photograph is no longer a tangible object, a rectangle resembling a painting but an ephemeral image made of tiles. (Richtin, F. After Photography, 2009, p.70). By the exploration of the relationship of photography to the system and practices of culture and defining the medium I have developed the process of square grains as a digital artifact and a new aesthetic of the mosaic idea.
The work is made up of thousands individual pieces which together form a single specific surface. The nature of the material, the effort of production (128 colours, 19.980 of 1x1 cm squares for 176x108 cm piece of work equals one month of handmade production) and the context of work, aim to create a commentary on both the notion of man versus machine as an contemporary epic drama and the craft as a methaphor of the human condition.

25x60” Digital C-Type Diptych, 4 min’ Video Display

She squats against the wall with her head between her knees and her legs in her arms. Her hair tarnished by the light hangs to the ground. It hides the face and whole front of the body. The left foot is crossed on the right. She is the north. It goes without saying that only vanquished hide their faces though not all without exception. Standing or sitting with head erect some content themselves with opening their eyes no more. It is of course forbidden to withhold the face or other part from the searcher who demands it and may without fear of resistance remove the hand from the flesh it hides or raise the lid to examine the eye. The hair of the woman has thus many time been gathered up and drawn back and the head raised and the face laid bare and whole front of the body. - S. Beckett

		<description>(2010)

This project is about examining the role photography plays within the construction of society and identity, and exploring issue of architecture as an ideology of society.
It is said that every ideology is an utopia. Both of them distort reality in so far as their ideas do not fit into reality: ideology because it cenceals reality, utopia because it exceeds its limits. Mass housing constructions as a remarkable trademark of communist and postcommunist- era buildings are a great example of it. I have used this architectural vision implemented into many European countries, as a methaphor of society.
Communistic ideology was about abolition of class division, enforcing social justice, liquidizing poverty, and nationalizing the private value/property. Aim was to create a new classless society structured upon common ownership: everyone as equal, with the same needs and everyone can live in the same conditions. Notion of individuality created by communist authorities became a fiction and pathology in the same time. Paradoxicaly what was promised by communist regime was simultaneously destroyed, by creating insfrucstructure such as mass housing estates, which worked against postulates of individual expression. Lack of pragmatism and concept of human nature within the attempt to create common living in utopian conditions caused one of the biggest issue which reality of poeple from „commie blocks“ has to deal with. It is an issue of identity or actual non-identity and dehumanization.
The aim of this installation is to recreate the feeling of communal living. Open composition of three different photographs, depicting massive amount of windows and balconies recalls the vision of totality and infinity. Overlaping heartbeats record serves as an evidence of humanity, proof of the fragality of the human condition – uniqueness, mass and loss of identity. All this immerses the viewer within seemingly infinite and simultaneously claustrophobic, intensely uncomfortable and disorientating effect.
